Ekiti State government has expressed its commitment to fiscal accountability and transparency.

The state commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Olu Femi Ajayi, stated this to ensure fiscal sustainability and the government’s macro-fiscal objectives.

Speaking during the public presentation of the state 2026 Budget Breakdown and Highlights in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Ajayi said the budget is designed to strengthen the state’s economy through strategic investments in all sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education and others.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji had, in October last year, presented a budget of N415,572,070,139.44 to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The budget christened “Budget of Impactful Governance” comprises a Current Expenditure of N221, 872.84 billion, representing 53 per cent of the total budget, and a Capital Expenditure of N193,699.90 billion, which translates to 47 per cent of the total budget.

He said 72 per cent of the capital expenditure allocation goes to the economic sector, with industrial development/infrastructure gulping N109,824.25 (57%).

The commissioner disclosed that the state has proposed a total of N8,838,800,000,000 for its GDP for the 2026 fiscal year.

Ajayi noted that part of the budget’s objectives includes completing all ongoing projects, expanding the revenue base, promoting culture and tourism, developing human capital, and boosting agriculture and food security.

Others are economic empowerment, promotion of value reorientation and productivity, creation of employment opportunities, digitalisation of the public service, and enhancing quality health delivery.
