Ekiti state government has said that strategic efforts are being made to solve ecological issues in the state.

The state’s commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who stated this said this is aimed at eliminating the risk of perennial flood and environmental degradation with their attendant destruction of life and properties as much as possible across the state.

Speaking during a tour of ongoing environmental projects in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital Olatunbosun disclosed that a sum of N475,207,920.01 has been expended by the state government in the last 18months on the dredging of waterways and desilting of drains and gutters to ensure efficient passage and flow of water through the system

He added that the government’s proactive move had culminated in removal of all impediments in waterways and allowed free-flow which has significantly reduced the risk of disaster in flood prone areas of Ado-Ekiti and other parts of the state.

The commissioner said the current efforts of the state government is to consolidate gains made since the assumption of office of the Oyebanji Administration in tackling incessant flooding, erosion and other ecological problems facing many communities in the State.
