Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has confirmed an attack on its workers by military personnel.

Spokesman of the DisCo, Babatunde Lasaki, in a shared document, said the incident occurred approximately at about 1.00am on Friday, March 14, 2025.

According to the information, “Military personnel from the 15th Field Engineer Regiment, Topo Barracks, Badagry forcefully entered the premises of our sub-station and abducted the Distribution Substation Operator and a Proton Security Personnel on duty.”

He said the invaders abducted staff members and subjected them to physical assault with attendant injuries following the assault, however, adding that there was no evidence of infrastructure destruction during the attack.”

He said the military men cited prolonged power outage, which was due to ongoing project upgrade at the TCN Agbara facility. This he said has been communicated to the Commanding Officer of the Barracks, Lt. Col . S.L. Lawn, and the matter was also reported at the police station while a formal letter of complaint has also been written to Military High Command in Abuja.
