The Kebbi State chapter of the Nigerian Legion has expressed its delight to the state government for supporting the chapter during its yearly launching of the emblem appeal fund.
Assistant state’s secretary and chairman of Birnin Kebbi local government area of the Legion, Ahmed Shehu Matawalle who spoke on behalf of the chairman of the state chapter, Sergeant Garba Hassan Suru, during an interview at the Legion’s new secretariat in Birnin Kebbi said there was no time the governor, Dr Nasir Idris denied the Legion its rights since he became the governor of Kebbi State in 2023.
” Last year, he gave us what was given to us by previous administration but, this year he doubled the amount of donation given by State government to N50 million and also donated another ten million from his personal pocket, honestly this is something appreciable which our Chapter must commend Kauran Gwand, ” Matawalle added.
According to him, the Legion in Kebbi State will remain grateful, continue to be loyal, and collaborate with other serving security personnel in ensuring peace and freedom from all sorts of criminal activities across the state.
Matawalle also debunked the allegations of some union members that the current state’s executives of the Legion are not honest and they are cheating non-executive members.
He noted that the allegations came from opposition PDP supporters in the state Legion, not APC.
He also revealed that the current leadership of the Legion in the state has constructed a new befitting state’s secretariat along Dukku barrack road called “Legion House ” with enough offices and accommodation unlike before.
Matawalle called on legionnaires to remain calm, as the Legion is doing all necessary things to protect the rights of its members.
