Embrace Core Principles Of Labour Service, Integrity, VC Urges Students

The newly admitted students of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) have been urged to embrace core principles of labour, service, and integrity to be successful in their academic pursuit.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Smaranda Olarinde of the university who gave the advice the principles upon which the institution is founded will help them to excel in life.

Olarinde spoke during the 16th Matriculation Ceremony of the private university in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.

The matriculation oath was administered on the 2,955 students admitted for 2024/2025 session across the six colleges of the university by the Registrar and Secretary to Council of the university, Lady Christie Oluborode.

The matriculating students comprises of 2,507 regular students, 34 are in for open and distance learning programme while 414 students are in various part time programmes. There were three foreign students from Germany, Sierra Leone and Republic of Nigeria.

The VC said, “Here, you will find opportunities to grow, to challenge yourself and to excel in ways you never imagined. I encourage you to embrace these values as an integral part of your growth mindset, for they have the power to help you grow stronger, achieve greater heights, and shine brighter in all you do”.

She said the is steadfastly committed to excellence across all spheres, with a particular focus on academic, moral, innovation, vocational training and research adding that it is established beyond imparting knowledge, shaping character and to also prepare students for future career.

“ABUAD’s dedication to quality education, innovation and core values has cemented its reputation as a leading university both nationally and globally”.

Advising the students further, she admonished them to define their visions and goals, cultivate positive attitude balance their schedules and manage their time well.

“Avoid bad company like a plague, surround yourself with people that inspira , uplift you not those who lead you to towards distractions or vices that could derail your bright future.

“Build your personal brand and nurture a well-rounded persona, uphold moral and ethical standards while building a strong academic foundation. This adds value to your personal brand that leads to enduring success”
