A potentially catastrophic fuel disaster was averted in Kaduna State after a fully loaded Petrol Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker was involved in an accident at Romi New Extension, near Command Junction. The prompt response of emergency agencies ensured that no casualties were recorded.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Northwest Zonal Office confirmed the incident in a statement signed by Halima Daudu Suleiman. According to the statement, a significant fuel spill occurred, posing an immediate threat to lives and property.
Upon receiving the report from a Kaduna State Disaster Management Platform (DMP) member, NEMA swiftly activated its Emergency Response Team and coordinated with relevant stakeholders.
Suleiman said a multi-agency team was quickly deployed to manage the situation.
According to her, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Joint Task Force (JTF) worked together to maintain order and prevent secondary incidents.
