The Emir His Royal Highness Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, the Emir of Daura, has turbaned the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, as the first Jagaban Matan Hausa.
The colourful and historic ceremony was held at the Emir’s palace shortly after the traditional Hawan Magajiya (Sallar Gani) celebrations.
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda graced the occasion alongside the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura, and a large gathering of female traditional title holders who came to express solidarity with the First Lady.
While presenting the letter of appointment and decorating Hajiya Zulaihat with traditional regalia, the Emir explained that the title was conferred in recognition of her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment and community service. He emphasised that the honour was the first of its kind bestowed on a governor’s wife in Hausa history.
Alhaji Faruq Umar commended the First Lady’s efforts in advancing initiatives that uplift women and men alike, describing her as a bridge-builder dedicated to fostering development and inclusiveness.
The conferment of the Jagaban Matan Hausa title marks a significant milestone, highlighting Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda’s growing influence in promoting gender empowerment and community development across Katsina State.
The event drew dignitaries, political leaders, and traditional rulers who gathered to witness the rare honour and celebrate the newly turbaned Jagaban Matan Hausa.
