The emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has congratulated Muslims in Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and across Nigeria on the completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Sulu-Gambari who is currently observing his annual vacation in Turkiye, rejoiced with the Muslims in a statement issued yesterday by his press secretary, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona.
The emir thanked the Almighty Allah for granting him and the entire Muslim Ummah the strength, patience and spiritual upliftment to observe the fasting, prayers and acts of charity that defined the sacred period.
He extended his goodwill message to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governments at all levels as well as the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council.
He noted that, “Ramadan is not only a time of abstinence but also a period of deep reflection, compassion, discipline and renewed devotion to Allah,” stressing that, “As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I urge all Muslims to sustain the virtues learned during Ramadan such as piety, humility, generosity, tolerance, and love for one another.”
“This joyous festival should also serve as a moment to promote peace, unity, and religious harmony in our communities and across the nation. Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity, and we must continue to live together in mutual respect and understanding, irrespective of faith or ethnic background.
“I call on all citizens to shun violence, intolerance, and actions capable of disrupting public order. Let us use this occasion to extend kindness to the less privileged, support the needy, reconcile with one another, and pray for lasting peace, security, and prosperity in our dear country.
“I beseech Almighty Allah to accept our fast, prayers, and good deeds, forgive our shortcomings, and grant us many more years to witness Ramadan in good health and faith,” the emir added.
He appealed to the people of the state to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with decorum and ensure law and order before, during and after the festival.
