The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has hailed the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its efforts in checking the menace of drug abuse and the activities of drug traffickers.
He expressed the support of the traditional institution in the state for the agency to rid Kwara of the menace.
The emir spoke yesterday when the state’s new NDLEA commander, Hajia Fatima Popoola, visited him in his palace in Ilorin.
Sulu- Gambari assured the NDLEA commander of his readiness to rally other traditional rulers in the state for the agency.
He said the monarchs would be encouraged to always enlighten their people on the dangers of involving themselves in drug related offences. He harped on the need for the relevant stakeholders to organise more enlightenment and sensitisation programmes on why Nigerians, particularly the youths must shun or engage in social vices.
Hajia Fatima Popoola, said her team was at the palace to receive royal blessings from the emir. She praised the emir for his consistent support for the agency. She listed lack of vehicles and other logistics as some of their challenges in the state.
