Emir of Bade and deputy chairman of Yobe State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman has urged the federal government and the Chief of Defence Staff to remove the stop and search checkpoint along Gashua Garin Alkali Road.

The Emir disclosed this when he received the state deputy governor, Hon Idi Barde on a condolence visit to his palace over an unfortunate incident between soldiers and civilians in Gashua town.

He also appealed to the state government to provide employment to the youths in the state stressing that unemployment is the main factor responsible for the mayhem.

According to him, most of the youths that participated in the protest are below 30 years old.

In his response, the deputy governor explained that out of concern, Governor Mai Mala directed him to immediately pay a visit to Gashua and assess the situation.

Hon Barde called on the teeming youths not to take laws into their hands but respect constituted authorities.

He directed the head of security agencies to find a lasting solution to clashes between the soldiers and community.

The deputy governor presented N3 million to the families of the  deceased and N1 million each for the treatment of injured persons.

Barde prayed for Allah to grant them Jannatul Firdausi and for the family the fortitude to bear the lost.
