Emmanuel Daraloye’s Contribution To Nigeria’s Creative Industry

Emmanuel Daraloye’s intimidating records as a prolific Nigeria based music journalist has been talked about, however the journey didn’t start with music. For anyone who has followed the Ipele born, Akure raised art enthusiast for the past one decade on social media, there is more to the man.

When they say it takes the village to train a child, this adage surely comes up when you check Emmanuel Daraloye’s trajectory. From spending his childhood between Ipele (his hometown) and Akure (the city he relocated to in 2003) with his parents, grandparents and his guardian. He has always been trained by the society, people and what he reads.

His formative education kicked off at St. Stephen Anglican Primary School, Ipele, then later to Arisoyi Community Primary School, Akure before he finally graduated from King and Queen Nursery and Primary School, Akure in 2006. By the time he graduated from St Dominic’s High School, Akure for his secondary school, Emmanuel Daraloye knew he was up for greatness.

While studying for his first degree at Adeyemi College of education, Ondo Town, (a degree programme run in affiliation with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife), he sharpened his skill by working in three radio stations. These were Arbico FM,Ace Campus, Eki 100.9 FM, Ondo Town and the King Sunny Ade Owned Music and Culture radio, M&C 106.5 FM, Ondo Town.

From 2014 to 2023, Emmanuel Daraloye worked as a talent manager, show organizer. This afforded him the opportunity to work with the finest underground artistes in Nigeria. He organizes shows and concerts in Ondo State.

While he has always been a music inclined fellow and has always shared his thoughts on albums, songs and the music industry via social media and offline, Emmanuel Daraloye took things more seriously in January 2020 as he began to write more about music. At the last count, he has written more than one thousand music related articles. His work has not been limited to print media; he has been called by television stations like Kaftan, Western Spring TV and a myriad of radio stations to share his thoughts about music related topics.

In January 2022, he founded AfroReview, a newsletter where he shared his thoughts on Afrobeats and the music space in general.

Since 2023, Emmanuel Daraloye has served as the team lead for “Flem PR”. A public relation firm that offers strategic service to artistes, actors, actresses, entrepreneurs,tech enthusiasts ,corporate bodies and others.

From being a talent manager, OAP, Newscaster, Sport Presenter, Music Journalist and now a Public Relations consultant. There are many roles that Emmanuel Daraloye has filled in his sojourn nevertheless, he strives to dazzle at whatever roles he finds himself.
