The Enugu State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has temporarily suspended its planned Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses due to ongoing issues within the party.
The state chairperson, Mrs. Stella Chukwuma, disclosed the decision on Thursday in an interview in Enugu, noting that the suspension aligns with directives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and will remain in place until guidance is received from the party’s national headquarters.
“Other party activities continue as normal, including member mobilisation, registration, realignment, and coalition efforts,” Chukwuma said.
She further revealed that INEC had removed all correspondence related to the embattled national chairman and national secretary, Sen. David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, respectively.
“So, it is as bad as that. We cannot continue with the congresses for now until the issue is resolved,” she added.
Despite the setback, Chukwuma expressed optimism that ADC is gradually positioning itself as a rallying point for opposition parties in Enugu State.
