Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, has set a new record for Nigerian players in the English Premier League after netting in one of Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 victory goals against Sheffield United on Friday night.
The 22-year-old nodded home Sergier Aurier’s cross in the fourth minute of the thrilling contest.
The former Union Berlin forward was also on target in Forest’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.
Taiwo Awoniyi is now the first Nigerian to score in six consecutive Premier League games.
The striker will now look to become the third African player to score in seven consecutive games when Nottingham Forest travel to Old Trafford on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Only Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Egypt’s Mohammed Salah have previously achieved the feat.
Last season, Taiwo Awoniyi finished as Forest’s top scorer with 10 goals for the club to escape relegation.
