Nigerian actress and media personality, Etinosa Idemudia, has issued a stern warning to her colleagues about fake tributes and private direct messages (DMs) after a person passes away.
In a video she posted on her Instagram account, she explicitly said, “Post my DM after I die, I will wake up and slap you and go back to the grave.” At the same time, she further criticised the growing trend of public mourning messages from people she believes may not have genuinely supported the deceased while they were alive.
She also called out filmmakers and producers who ignore her messages requesting to work together while she is alive, only to share those same DMs later to show “what could have been.”
The actress stated that private conversations should be used as proof of real friendship and support rather than emotional public posts after death.
However, beyond the slap, she jokingly warned that she would haunt offenders; she said she would “twist your neck” and appear in their nightmares.
Etinosa’s remarks reflect growing concerns about authenticity on social media and the pressure public figures often face when reacting publicly to grief and tragic events.
