The Etsu Nupe Foundation has treated 600 indigent people suffering from various eye-related ailments in Bida and surrounding communities in Niger State, free of charge.

The Etsu Yahaya Abubakar Foundation medical outreach included free cataract surgeries and medical consultations for patients with various eye conditions.

The outreach conducted by the foundation in collaboration with the Near Foundation Abuja and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Bida, was to help those who could not afford the cost of such surgeries and treatments, selected based on the urgency of need.

The Etsu Nupe Yahaya Abubakar Abubakar, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, said the initiative was informed by the increasing number of people in the community suffering from sight-related challenges.

He described healthcare as a critical component of human development and reiterated the foundation’s commitment to improving the well-being of vulnerable persons, particularly those unable to afford medical treatment.

He said the foundation would continue to strengthen partnerships with relevant organisations and stakeholders to expand access to quality healthcare services and alleviate people’s suffering.

According to him, the gesture reflected his commitment to humanitarian service, community development and the promotion of healthy living among the populace.
