Etsu Nupe Harps On Core Values, Peace At 23rd Anniversary

The Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has urged the younger generation of Nigerians to take pride in their cultural heritage, acquire education and develop skills as well as values required to contribute positively to the development of society.

He made the call yesterday at his palace in Bida in a ceremony to mark his 74th birthday and 23rd anniversary on the throne.

The monarch reiterated that Nigerians must embrace tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence as core values for sustainable development.

According to him, peace remains fundamental to the progress and development of any society and urged Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations, to promote mutual respect, understanding and dialogue in the interest in pursuit of peace and national development.

He also maintained that the traditional institution has an important role to play in complementing government efforts toward improving the welfare of the people and promoting peace and unity in the society.

Royal father of the day, the Emir of Lafia and chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Traditional Rulers, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed I, congratulated the Etsu Nupe on attaining 74 years of age and 23 years on the throne of his forefathers.

Justice Sidi Bage described the milestone as a remarkable achievement and a testament to the Etsu Nupe’s wisdom, humility, dedication and commitment to the traditional institution and the wellbeing of his people.

Governor of Niger state Mohammed Umaru Bago extolled the virtues of the Etsu Nupe and invaluable contribution to peaceful coexistence and development in the state and beyond.
