The Etsu Nupe and chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has called for prayers for the country’s leaders.
He made the appeal yesterday in his Wadata Palace, Bida in Niger State.
Alhaji Abubakar said the newly elected leaders needed the prayers of both Muslim and Christian faithful for God’s guidance and protection to enable them to discharge their duties to the people.
He said with fervent and ceaseless prayers, God will guide them on the right path for the country to move forward.
Abubakar said, “There is the need for Muslims and Christians to pray fervently for the successful tenure of all those that were inaugurated recently and for God Almighty to guide and guard them to deliver to the people the needed dividends of democracy.”
The royal father said the security challenges, especially insurgency, banditry and kidnapping would be surmounted through prayers.
Abubakar admonished the state governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to give priority to the welfare of the people of the state.
He urged the governor to focus on developmental projects in order to improve the welfare of the people, saying “we are appealing to him to run the administration of Niger state in a God-fearing manner and dedication.”
He underscored the need for the governor to urgently hit the ground running with a view to improving the living standard of the people of the state.
The Etsu Nupe also urged Bago to ensure the appointment of competent and experienced people into his cabinet, so as to take the state to the next level of development.
