LEADERSHIP gathered that the suspect attacked his girlfriend following a disagreement over the refund of N100,000 he had previously borrowed from her.

The command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olushola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, saying the altercation occurred on October 7, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., when Ademola became violent and repeatedly assaulted the victim until she lost consciousness.

According to the PPRO, the deceased was rushed to the hospital, where a medical practitioner confirmed her death.

The Divisional Police Officer in Idanre Division led a team of detectives to the scene, resulting in the suspect’s arrest.

The victim’s remains have been deposited at the morgue for a post-mortem examination, while the investigation has commenced.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act, describing it as “dastardly and unacceptable.”

He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.

Lawal reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and warned that cases of domestic violence and brutality would not be tolerated in the state.

He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station promptly.
