Former local government council chairmen in Osun State have charged the federal government and other relevant agencies to investigate Governor Ademola Adeleke on how he spent N183 billion allocated to the 30 LGAs of the state from November 2022 to November 2024.

Addressing journalists yesterday on behalf of local government chairmen elected on October 15, 2022, former chairman of Obokun local government, Chief Owoeye Abiodun Samuel, said there was nothing on ground to show for the huge amount allocated to the third tier of government in the state within the period under review.

Flanked by Alhaji Yusuf Akintegbe, Hon Elugbaju Jacob and Hon Adepoju Oladele at the press conference, Owoeye insisted that the administration of Governor Adeleke had violated the 1999 Constitution by withholding and spending the federal allocations to local governments in the state.

“That the Ademola Adeleke administration has received, spent and/or tampered with funds released from the Federation Account the sum of N183,196,629,321.19 standing to the credit of the 30 local government councils in Osun State from November 2022 to November 2024.

“This untoward behaviour of the PDP administration in Osun has ignominiously impoverished the people of the state, especially those at the grassroots.

“Curiously, our concern stems from the fact that the Ademola Adeleke administration has embarked on this impunity without democratically elected local government officials in place, this in itself, is an intentional subversion of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“The Federal government and its relevant agencies should see to this by ensuring that justice is done for the people of Osun, especially those at the grassroots,” he said.

Reacting to the allegations, the state commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi said the ex-chairmen were being mischievous adding that he would react comprehensively in due course.
