Ex-Delta First Lady Dies In London

Lady Edna Ibru, wife of the first democratically elected governor of Delta State, Olorogun Felix Ibru, is dead.

Mrs Ibru, who was also a former Miss Nigeria (1964) is reported to have died in a London hospital after a brief illness.

Confirming the death in a statement on Saturday, her son, Dr Paul Aidido Ibru said, “Our amazing mother passed into glory on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 after a brief illness.

“Until her death, she was full of life and we never expected her to leave us so soon but we cannot question the will of God in her precious life.

“She was a lover of people, a mediator, a mother to many, outrageously humorous, deeply caring, down to earth, full of stories all the time and we will miss her very dearly,” he said.

The statement added that burial arrangements would be communicated by the family at a later date. The late Mrs Edna Ibru who died in her 80s is believed to be the first Nigerian/African to represent Nigeria at Miss Universe.
