A former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Amb. Henry John Omaku, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the takeover of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia as Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.
Speaking with journalists in Lafia, the former ambassador said the approval for the conversion of the state specialist hospital would positively impact on the people.
He said the president had demonstrated a huge commitment to the welfare of Nigerians in various aspects of human endeavour within the past one year in office.
He listed the approval and signing into law of the new minimum wage, provision of road and healthcare infrastructure, cash transfer, consumer credit scheme, students’ loan and provision of other various interventions and engagement with various segments are testament that the president has the interest of the citizens at heart.
“The government of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is only a year old, and we need to exercise more patience and allow the government to actualize its vision. The president has already demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the citizens by increasing the minimum wage after engaging in constructive dialogue with the Nigeria Labour Congress. This is without doubt, a significant achievement, and a testament to his no willingness to listen and work collaboratively.
“Tinubu’s government has initiated some social welfare intervention schemes such as the cash transfer, consumer credit scheme, and N110 billion National Youth Investment Fund among others to reduce the economic hardships faced by Nigerians.
Furthermore, this administration has made it possible for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access loans and complete their university education. This is a groundbreaking initiative, unprecedented in our nation’s history,” he said.
He also lauded governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for the ongoing construction of overhead bridge and underpass in Lafia, building of ultramodern state secretariat, dualization of Shendam/government house road, and construction of intra city roads thereby giving the state capital a facelift, saying the execution of these projects would benefit generations to come.
