Ex-governor Bello Visits Home, Urges Unity Among Various Ethnic Groups In Kogi

The former governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello has  called for unity of purpose that  will pave way  for peace, economic and infrastructural development  of the state.

Bello made the call  at the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on Tuesday, when he visited his country home after he was granted bail by a High Court in Abuja.

Recall that a Federal High Court,  Abuja, had granted the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, bail in the sum of N500 million with two sureties in like sum.

This was after the former governor had pleaded not guilty to the 19-count charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

He is facing an alleged money laundering trial to the tune of N80bn, but pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Former Governor Bello who was in company of the incumbent Governor of the State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and other dignitaries , stated that a viable foundation has been laid down for successive administration to move the state forward, noting that without unity among the various ethnic groups in the State, nothing can be achieved.

While appealing  to the people of the state to rally support for Governor Ododo, the former Governor,  assured that the current administration in Kogi State  will deliver more dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.

Bello  who also seek the  support and prayers of Nigerians  for President Bola  Tinubu to succeed in executing his laudable plans and programmes  for the country, noted that the policies of the federal government  will definitely take the country to the glorious land.

He urged Nigerians to exercise patient with President Tinubu’s government to enable him tackle the challenges affecting the progress and development of the country.

Addressing a mammoth crowd,  Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo , said that former Governor Yahaya Bello had laid a solid foundation especially in the state civil service to enable his administration pay prompt salaries both at the state and local government levels.

“The success of my administration today was borne out of the commitment and good foundations laid down by my predecessor and the support and encouragement we are receiving from him.

“For us to succeed we need the prayer and  support of our people, because I am ready to serve you and I will continue to do my best to unify the people of the state even if it requires prostrating  for my people” Gov. Ododo said.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland , Dr Tijani Ahmed Anaje in his remarks charged Ebira people both at home and in diaspora to embrace peace, speak with one voice and prioritize Ebira interest over and above any personal interest.

The Royal Father who was visibly delighted  offered prayers for Ebiraland and Kogi State in general , and solicited support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to enable him achieve more development for the state.

The highlight of the occasion was the special prayers offered by the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Sheik Salihu Abere, Pastor Ejuwon John, and Chief Mariba Amos, who prayed in a traditional way.
