The former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was made known through a   declaration letter he presented to the PDP in Imo State,  which was made  available to newsmen.

Prince Madumere stressed  that his enrollment into  the party  is   to unite like-minded individuals in a bid to restore the democratic rights and privileges of the citizenry.

He expressed commitment to promote youth empowerment and innovation, as well as delivering transparent governance.

His words, “I believe that when the platform one stands on is no longer serving the purpose of the people, it then becomes apt to build a new one.

“ I  have decided to officially inform you of my resignation from APC   and my entry into the PDP. This is to enable me contribute my quote towards the development of the nation from a different perspective”.

Madumere described this movement as a defining moment in his political career and revealed that his declaration for PDP came after a deep reflection and broad consultation with his family, mentors and supporters.

The former deputy governor appreciated APC for the opportunity provided  to serve in many political spheres and acknowledged the privilege it had offered him to serve as a Deputy Governor of Imo State.

Madumere pledged to remain grateful to the quality relationship and friends for their collaboration and support while the political alliance lasted.

He pointed out that his departure from APC is not born out of malice but necessity.

He said: “I have come in terms with the notion that I could no longer continue to be an appendage of a party that does not reward loyalty but is frequently in the habit of disrespecting and marginalising members who have stuck their lives for the unity, progress and development of the society”.

Madumere highlighted  that this decision is not driven by personal ambition, but rather by a desire for improved performance, better representation, and enhanced service delivery.

He submitted that  he can no longer feel at ease in a party that has deviated significantly from its original mandate and mission.

Madumere indicated that internal conflicts in APC,  loss of ideological direction, and  disregard for members as factors that have made it impossible for him to uphold the promises he made to the people.

He said: “Remaining there will be a disservice to the very people who once voted me as Deputy Governor of Imo State”.
