The Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has announced the death of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, the wife of former Vice-Chancellor of the institution and former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.
In a statement shared on its official social media page on Sunday, BUK said, “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega.”
The statement added that her Janazah prayer will take place immediately after Zuhr at the National Mosque in Abuja this Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The university prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of the deceased, saying: “May Allah grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings. May He also grant the family the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.”
