Ex-Jigawa APC Chair Remanded In Prison For Attacking Gov Badaru

The former acting chairman of All Progressive Congress ( APC) Alhaji Habibu Sani Sara was remanded in prison on alleged slandering and smearing campaign against the reputation of state governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Habiu Sani Sara and one other person Habu Karami Jahun were arraigned before magistrate court sitting in Dutse presided by a magistrate, Auwal Balago, on three-count charges including defamation of character, an attempt to incite public disturbance and disorder.

The duo pleaded not guilty. While the magistrate, Mr Balago ordered that the accused be detained in a correctional facility till 8 May.

Habib Sara and one Alhaji Habu Karami Jahun were arrested by police after conducting a live program at Kano base FM Radio.

The former APC chairman and Karami Jahun were alleged to have accused the state governor on alleged last minute indiscriminate award of contracts that could be a huge burden to his successor.

The duo also accused the governor of awarding shoddy contracts including the supply of over 200 cars that are fully paid without seeing one on the ground.

In the program they also accused governor Badaru on alleged attempt to remain in power beyond May 29th 2023 by imposing cabinet members and other key appointments into Incoming government of His Excellency Malam Umaru Namadi.

The state police command confirmed that, the to accused persons were invited and investigated by police after receiving a written complain from one Malam Habibi Ringim a special Adviser to the governor on Media Content.

According to the police, the complainant had allaged that, the accused person had conducted live Radio programs in which they attacked the reputation of governor Badaru and also concocted lies against him.

However, in relation to this development, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Gwaram local government chapter of the state has expelled the ex- state party chairman Alhaji Habibi Sani Sara and Tukur Fagam on alleged anti party and other nefarious action capable of destabilizing the party in the state.

The announcement of sacking the two persons from the party was signed and made available to newsmen by local government party chairman Alhaji Ayuba Umar Nasara, he said the decision was taken by party caucus to serve as a deterrent to others.
