Katsina State Ministry of Information and Culture has disclosed that a suspected mastermind of a kidnapping syndicate, Nura Aliyu Garwa, was earlier suspended from his position as senior special assistant (SSA) on Community Development to Dikko Umaru Radda before contesting for a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, Garwa is among suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for the abduction of an eight-year-old boy at Sardauna Estate in Katsina metropolis.

The statement explained that Garwa had previously been suspended by the state government over his alleged involvement in the diversion of empowerment materials meant for distribution to communities in Batsari local government area under the state’s Community Development Programme.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the activities of the syndicate as unfortunate, particularly because they allegedly involved a high-profile individual who had also contested for a seat in the state House of Assembly.

The governor commended the Katsina State Police Command and other security agencies for their efforts and commitment towards tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property across the state.

The statement further recalled that the Katsina State Police Command had earlier paraded suspects connected to the kidnapping syndicate involved in the abduction of the eight-year-old boy in Katsina metropolis.
