A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, has resigned her membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending over two decades of affiliation with the party.
Akinjide, in a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward 1 chairman in Ibadan, Oyo State, said her decision takes immediate effect.
She noted that the move followed a long period of personal reflection, describing it as a difficult decision given her longstanding membership of the party since 2001.
The former lawmaker expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it provided her, including political engagement and public service.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a member of the party and the experiences and relationships built during my time,” she stated.
Akinjide also wished the PDP success in its future endeavours.
Her resignation adds to the list of recent political realignments ahead of evolving political developments in the country.
