The former minister of transportation, Mu’azu Sambo Jaji, has urged President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to review the conduct of the party’s governorship primary election in Taraba State over alleged irregularities.

Jaji’s camp said the appeal became necessary to protect internal democracy and preserve the integrity of the party in the state.

The APC primary election committee yesterday declared Governor Agbu Kefas winner of the party’s governorship ticket after securing 166,357 votes, while Sambo emerged the first runner-up with 4,110 votes.

Reacting to the outcome, his media aide, Dr. Sam Idiagbonya, expressed dissatisfaction with the exercise, and alleged that the process was not transparent and failed to reflect democratic principles expected within the party.

Idiagbonya said concerns over exclusion, irregularities and lack of transparency, if not addressed, could erode confidence among party members and damage the APC’s democratic image.

He noted that several loyal party members in Taraba felt aggrieved by the conduct of the exercise, insisting that the party leadership must intervene to restore confidence.
