A former minister of police Affairs and Board of Trusted BOT of the Peoples Democratic Party Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has formally dumped People Democratic Party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) yesterday.

Adamu Waziri announced his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gashua local government area of Yobe State.

He said his decision followed “wide consultations and deep personal reflection”, stressing that it was not driven by personal ambition or anger, but by “love for our nation and concern for the hardship our people are facing daily.”

“ Insecurity has taken over our homes, especially in the North Boko Haram, Banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism have become part of our lives while the government prioritises politics over the safety of its citizens,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has the wherewithal to wrestle power from the ACP in 2027 and return Nigeria to the path of economic recovery.

“When Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar ruled form 1999 to 2007, Nigeria’s debt was reduced to zero, the economy was buoyant and Nigerians enjoyed administration better than now,” he said.

He said the current economic hardship in the country was worrisome and without any sign of improvement in sight.

He urged youths, women and the elderly to join the ADC in order to move the country forward.
