Former president of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the University of Abuja, Emmanuel Ayantayo, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold, youth-centred, and reform-driven leadership, which has delivered tangible results in the administration’s first two years.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Ayantayo highlighted several key initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including the activation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), which now provides accessible student loans to indigent undergraduates across tertiary institutions.
He also praised the recently introduced ₦45,000 monthly stipend for technical students, describing it as a visionary policy that places real value on vocational education and skills acquisition, both crucial to increasing national productivity and addressing youth unemployment.
“The ₦45,000 monthly stipend is not just an incentive. It is a deliberate investment in Nigeria’s technical future. President Tinubu’s administration is showing it understands the link between youth empowerment and national development,” he said.
The former student leader commended the successful hosting of the National Youth Conference, noting that it provided a strategic platform for young Nigerians to engage directly with policymakers, contribute innovative ideas, and help shape the country’s future.
He also expressed support for the administration’s economic reform agenda, particularly the implementation of critical tax reform bills, which he said are key to rebuilding Nigeria’s economic architecture, enhancing transparency, and expanding non-oil revenue sources.
“These reforms show that President Tinubu is focused on long-term solutions, not quick fixes. His administration has taken some difficult but necessary steps to reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth,” he added.
Ayantayo called on Nigerian youths to remain active, innovative, and supportive of the national development agenda.
He also urged the Tinubu administration to deepen youth inclusion in governance and economic planning.
“President Tinubu’s two years in office have laid a strong foundation. It is now our collective responsibility, especially as young Nigerians, to build upon it and ensure Nigeria’s future is one we can all be proud of,” he stated.
