The Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State has announced plans to formally install former Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, as the Sardaunan Zazzau.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria, under the authority of the Emir of Zazzau, HRH Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

Sambo, who served as Nigeria’s Vice President between 2010 and 2015, will be conferred with one of the Emirate’s most prestigious titles in recognition of his contributions to national development and his longstanding ties to Zazzau Emirate having served as governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010.

The title of Sardauna is historically significant in northern Nigeria, traditionally bestowed on individuals of exceptional leadership and service.
