A former House of Representatives candidate of the People Democratic Party for Potiskum/Nangere Federal Constituency of Yobe State, Engr. Abubakar Adamu Waziri (Mbaruman Fika) has resigned from the party.

Waziri’s resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the Yobe State PDP Chairman for Potiskum Local Government Area, which was made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu.

The former PDP candidate attributed his ‘deliberate’ decision to “the adverse effect of serial incidents within the party.”

He said that, “This decision has not been easy for me, but I feel it is necessary due to my political ambition. I therefore, most sincerely thank the PDP for providing me with the opportunity thrive.”

He also thanked the party for giving him the mandate to clinch the House of Representatives ticket during the 2023 general elections.

“However, I have come to realise that my personal beliefs and values no longer align with those of the party. In view of the above, I decided to drop my long time membership in the PDP to join ADC as from today,” Waziri said.

In a similar development, the immediate-past women leader of PDP in Fune local government area, Hajiya Iyani Umaru, has resigned from the party, citing unresolved internal crises and divisions

In her resignation letter dated July 24, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman Damagum A Ward, Fune LGA, Hajiya Umaru wrote, “I write to formally tender my resignation from the People Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately.

“This decision is taken after wide consultation with my political association; hope my resignation letter is considered. Thank you.
