Dr. Mudasiru delivered these remarks during his presentation, “Transforming the Engineering Landscape: Embracing Sustainability, Digital Transformation, and Emerging Technologies for a Resilient Future,” at the 14th IET International Conference and Exhibition in Tanzania.

He highlighted that the engineering profession is at a critical juncture, where addressing climate change, resource depletion, and rapid urbanization demands a shift towards sustainable practices.

“The engineering landscape is undergoing a transformative revolution, driven by digital technologies and emerging innovations that redefine how we design, build, and maintain our world,” he stated.

Dr. Mudasiru underscored the role of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and digital twin systems in shaping the future of engineering. These tools, he explained, enable engineers to optimize designs, predict maintenance needs, and develop autonomous systems, thereby solving complex problems with unprecedented efficiency and precision.

He further stressed the importance of aligning engineering practices with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDGs 9, 11, and 13, which focus on industry, innovation, infrastructure, sustainable cities, and climate action.

Key trends and innovations, such as predictive maintenance, integrated frameworks for impact assessment, and environmental stewardship, were highlighted as critical areas for engineers to master. “Engineers must develop new skills, remain adaptable, and prioritize sustainable solutions to address the growing pressures of urbanization and environmental challenges,” Dr. Mudasiru stated.

He urgef engineers worldwide to collaborate and leverage emerging technologies to create a resilient and sustainable future.

“By embracing these transformative approaches, we can ensure a prosperous world for generations to come.”
