Explosion Kills 1 As Suspected Pipeline Vandal Arrested In Rivers

One person is suspected to have been killed following an explosion that occured at the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Aluu community of Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

The explosion, which occured on the right of way of TNP on Sunday, March 16, 2025 came barely 24 hours before another explosion on the same pipeline at Bodo Community in Gokana local government area of the state on Monday.

Meanwhile, security agents in-charge of TNP have arrested a suspect in connection with an explosion on the pipeline right of way at Aluu community.

The suspect was arrested following credible intelligence from covert team operation of PINL in Aluu community.

Speaking to journalists on the arrest, an operations staff of PINL who gave his name simply as Ebikeme said there was a blast on the TNP Pipeline Right of Way in Aluu – Zone 5 on Sunday, and a suspected vandal was found dead at the site of the incident from the effects of the blast.

“Upon further investigation, a suspected vandal was apprehended in connection with the incident,” Ebikeme said.

He added that the suspect is in custody of the Nigeria Police while further investigation was being carried out to apprehend other perpetrators in the act.
