A man from Kachia local government area of Kaduna State has taken to his Facebook page to thank God for saving his life and that of his wife following the discovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on his farmland.
The farmer, whose Facebook name is Mr Emmanuel Akos, reported the incident to military personnel at Gumel in Kachia, who followed him and deactivated the device.
In his words as posted, “Heavenly father, I am deeply grateful for your Divine protection and guidance this morning, and my wife and I went to the farm along the Federal University of Applied Science, Kachia. We discovered a bomb planted on the farm.
“Thank you for keeping us safe and giving me the clarity to act swiftly when I called the National Intervention Force stationed in Game, Cambodia. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the brave officers who followed me immediately after reporting.
“I appreciate your quick response and courage to ensure our safety and the security of the land. Your unwavering dedication is a blessing. Thank God for your mercy for the heroes who serve to protect us.
I pray for your promotion to the next rank, IJN.
After efforts to get the Kachia Local Government Chairman, Hon Dr Daniel Manzo Maigari, failed, the Vice Chairman, Hon Hussain Saddam, said that such a possibility as Kachia has been known for military activities over the years.
According to the Vice Chairman, “Kachia is generally a military training ground with military formations, so we tell people whenever there are such discoveries, they should quickly report it. It’s military hardware, it’s military items, and Kachia is known to be a military training ground.
“Kachia is a military zone to some extent, and some of these things are military hardware during their training, and whenever such are found, experts are called up to go and detonate them accordingly,” he said.
Speaking further, Saddam said, “People have been advised to be vigilant and report anything like that immediately to the authorities. Because the areas are used as a military training ground, and it is a natural ground used for a shooting range. So we have a Nigerian school of artillery, so nobody planted any bombs. Perhaps it’s one of those training items, so our call is for people to be vigilant.”
However, the Vice Chairman promised to contact relevant security authorities on the subject matter and revert.
Meanwhile, further efforts to get reactions from the Kaduna State Police Command and the military were unsuccessful as of the filing of the report. The attached pictures were as posted by the farmer on his Facebook page.
