The 20 local government areas in Lagos State received a combined N156.84 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) in the first three months of 2026, according to figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Official data showed that Alimosho Local Government received the highest allocation during the period, attracting N10.08 billion between January and March.

Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Kosofe followed with allocations of N8.45 billion and N8.37 billion respectively, while Mushin, Oshodi-Isolo, Ojo and Ikorodu each received more than N8 billion during the period under review.

The distribution also showed that Surulere and Agege received N7.97 billion and N7.86 billion respectively. Other councils, including Ifako-Ijaiye, Somolu, Ikeja, Eti-Osa, Amuwo-Odofin and Lagos Mainland, recorded allocations ranging from N7.46 billion to N7.78 billion.

At the lower end of the table, Badagry received N7.33 billion, while Apapa and Epe got N7.20 billion and N7.19 billion respectively. Lagos Island was allocated N7.17 billion, with Ibeju-Lekki receiving the lowest allocation in the state at N6.95 billion.

The allocations formed part of the N1.48 trillion distributed to Nigeria’s 774 local government areas through FAAC in the first quarter of 2026.

The increase in allocations has been attributed to higher crude oil revenues, improved Value Added Tax (VAT) collections and growth in other federally generated revenue sources.

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, continues to receive substantial federal allocations due to its large population and high level of economic activity. The state also generates the highest internally generated revenue (IGR) in the country.

The funds are expected to support grassroots development projects, including road rehabilitation, primary healthcare services, waste management, drainage construction, market development and basic education infrastructure.
