The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Monday announced the temporary closure of Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work.

The closure, scheduled to last from 03:00 hours on 3rd March 2025 to 23:59 hours on 4th March 2025 is part of efforts to maintain the airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition.

In a press statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiageli Orah, the authority explained that the rehabilitation works specifically focus on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway.

Orah stressed that the move is aimed at ensuring continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.

FAAN assured airlines and passengers that the temporary closure would not cause disruptions to flight operations, as all flights would be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R.
