The Nasarawa State Police Command has paraded a fake soldier who defrauded many applicants by pretending to secure employment for them in the military.

The fake soldier, Mr. Muhammed Haladu, residing behind Ozas Hotel, Karu Abuja, was arrested in full military camouflage on January 6, 2024.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, Mr Haladu was arrested by two soldiers, who were on pass in Awe town, Awe Local Government Area of the state, and handed over to the police.

He claimed to be a soldier attached to 231 Battalion Biu, Borno State, but investigations proved otherwise.

DSP Nansel stated, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect attempted to join the military but couldn’t, thus went to a military barracks to purchase the uniform he’s using for his nefarious activities.”

The command also arrested a notorious suspected armed robber, Kabiru Alhaji Yusuf, on January 10, with an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.

“Acting based on credible information, operatives of the Command’s Anti-robbery team on intelligence-led Patrol along Fadaman Bauna in Lafia local government area of the state, intercepted a group of three young men suspected to be armed robbers riding on an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle.

“The hoodlums abandoned the motorcycle and took to flight on sighting the Policemen, but were given a hot chase.

“Consequently, one Kabiru Alhaji Yusuf was arrested while two others escaped. A search was conducted on him where one AK 47 rifle and a motorcycle were recovered as exhibits,” he explained.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, commended the officers and urged them not to relent in the fight against criminals in the state.
