Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has refuted reports linking him to the chairmanship of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), describing them as false and mischievous.
Fani-Kayode stressed that he had neither knowledge of nor interest in football administration and insisted that he was never approached or nominated for the role.
He added that even if such an offer were made, he would have declined.
In a statement shared on his verified social accounts on Thursday, the former minister and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) condemned the circulation of the fabricated quotes by what he called “419 and criminal blogs.”
“I know nothing about the NFF. I have no interest in who leads it, and thankfully, I have not been approached or nominated for such a position by anyone,” he said.
“I am not a footballer and I could not care less who the NFF Chairman is or will be. The whole thing is deeply insulting, and I urge the blogs attributing these fake quotes to desist and leave me out of their mess,” he wrote.
Fani-Kayode urged the public to disregard the reports, which he described as a deliberate attempt to push a hidden agenda.
He also stressed that any authentic statement from him can only be found on his official website — femifanikayode.org — or through his verified X, Facebook, and Instagram pages.
“Anything outside of these platforms is fake, and I urge members of the public to read such reports with caution,” he warned.
Fani-Kayode, who served as Minister of Aviation under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has in recent years remained active as a political commentator and advocate, frequently using social media to clarify his positions and respond to national issues.
