A young businessman and politician, Umar Faringado Kazaure, has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately intervene in the Kano Emirate tussle in the interest of peace and stability.

Faringado noted that the ongoing standoff in Kano State over who is the monarch of the Northern Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre poses dangers to the peace and stability of Kano Emirate, Kano State and Northern Nigeria as a whole.

He, therefore, called on prominent Northern leaders and other well-meaning Nigerians not to fold their hands or look the other way while Kano State sits on the keg of gunpowder, adding that there was the need to broker peace between two former governors of the State – Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, as a pathway to resolving the emirate crisis.

“It is, therefore, important for Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to quickly intervene to break the royal logjam before it snowballs into an uncontrollable crisis that will consume all.

“The Sultan of Sokoto; former military President General Ibrahim Babangida; former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar alongside General Aliyu Gusau and other well-meaning Nigerians need to quickly intervene to broker peace between two former Governors of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. This will serve as a precursor to solving the Kano Emirate logjam,” Faringado stated.

LEADERSHIP reports that Kano has been on the edge since Thursday last week when the State House of Assembly repealed the State’s Emirates Law of 2019 and dissolved the four newly created Emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye and consequently restored Kano Emirate to its pre-2019 status with the reinstatement of 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

But the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has remained defiant with two interim injunctions of the Federal High Court in Kano in his favour, a development that has thrown up an unprecedented scenario in Kano Emirate with two claimants to the historic throne.
