Farmer Rescues New- Born Baby Buried Alive In Kebbi

Residents in Kamba under Dandi local government area of Kebbi State have been thrown into grievous shock and surprise when news of one farmer in the area, Malam Kabiru Sinkin Kamba discovered a new born baby girl who was buried alive. She was rescued by the farmer.

Leadership gathered that when the news spread all over the town and other parts of the state,  a delegation from the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) quickly visited the area, particularly the residence of of the rescuer, Malam Kabiru Kamba Who saved the infant.

The TWG leader and former Permanent Secretary at the ministry of Education in the state,  Hajiya Rafa’atu Hammani, after receiving clearance from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Kamba division, was accompanied by the director of Social Welfare development and the Councillor of Kamba ward made a surprise visit to the house of the farmer, and informed the farmer that they were there to express their gratitude for his brave effort in saving the life of the newly born baby.

The TWG team also told Malam Kabiru that Her Excellency, the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris who was the Chairperson of TWG was out of  the country but assured his act of kindness will be communicated to her over the almost tragic incident.

Malam Kabiru commended the team’s visit and also informed them of how he has decided to adopt the baby so she can live in his house after the rescue.

“Together with with my wife, by God’s grace we will take care of the girl until she is grown up without any fear or wicked intent.

“If Allah SWT, keeps her alive and grown up, we will make sure she gets a good upbringing from us particularly on both Islamic and western education.

Malam Kabiru also informed the team that he has already named the baby girl, Hafsat and called on those who are willing to offer donations or assistance to the baby to come to Kamba town to do that towards her upbringing.

Many donations such as cash and foodstuff, as well as cloth materials were presented to the farmer.
