‘Farming Will Create Real Wealth For Nigerian Youths’

Chairman and managing director of Sabore Farms Yola, Adamawa State, Aminu Nyako has said that only farming can create real wealth for Nigerian youths.

According to Aminu, youths are making between N180,000 and N130,000 in the farm which is four times the Nigerian minimum.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Aminu who is the son of the former governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako, said he took over the farms three years ago and introduced dairy farming that is making farmers millionaires in Adamawa State.

“The epicenter of growth in Adamawa in the coming years will be the milk industry,” Aminu said, adding that Sabore farms will be at the forefront of empowering the youths.

“The farm is owned by Nigerians and most of the technical partners are all Nigerians. The average age of the workers is 28 years,” Aminu said of the Sabore farms.

On the technical partners in the farm, Aminu said they recruited workers from the local universities adding that they also recruited people that were trained hands-on from the technical schools that Baba Mai Mangoro established as governor.

“We believe that we have highly trained people within Adamawa and outside the state. Many youths are looking for opportunities to just express themselves with the knowledge they have.

“Dairy farming most people don’t know, the reason why it is a protected industry abroad is that it affects almost all sectors of life.

“Because of dairy farming, we have to organise our people, we have to integrate them, we created mobile wallet for them and we’ve given them BVN, we’ve given them NIN, we invested in renewable energy, that’s energy sector, we created rural roads because they are inside the bush, that’s infrastructure, we have to train them that is empowerment, we’ve been able to give them livelihood, that’s employment. So, we created more than eight industries in the Sabore farm,” Aminu said.

“The more we grow, we will be touching on other things like artificial insemination, breeding improvement and animal husbandry. Dairy touches all aspects of life,” Aminu said, adding that if Nigerian youths can venture into farming, it will create real wealth.

“The lowest earning farmer earned about N130,000 in a month. On average, most of them earn N180,000 in a month. That’s six times minimum wage.

“So, we believe that most youths should be entering the dairy sector so that we can have a model of wealth generation,” he said.
