The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has commended Nigerian fathers for their dedication to raising responsible children and strengthening the fabric of society, stressing that families, and by extension, the nation, thrive when fathers are actively involved in parenting.

In a statement to mark the 2025 Father’s Day, the First Lady celebrated the invaluable contributions of fathers and father figures across the country, including those who take on fatherhood through mentorship, guardianship, and leadership in their communities.

“On this Father’s Day, I salute all Nigerian fathers who dedicate themselves to raising confident, responsible, and compassionate children,” Mrs Tinubu stated. “I also celebrate the men who step into fatherhood roles through mentorship, guardianship, and community leadership.”

She called for greater national support to help men function effectively in their roles as fathers, emphasising that when fathers are present and engaged, families grow stronger and society benefits as a whole.

“Let us continue to give men the support and enabling environment to function effectively as fathers,” she said. “When fathers are involved, families grow stronger, and so does the nation.”

Senator Tinubu also offered prayers for Nigerian fathers, acknowledging the often quiet sacrifices they make for the wellbeing of their children and communities.
