Famous Yoruba actress, Fausat Balogun, popularly called Madam Saje, has shared her story of the struggles she faced before finally making it in the entertainment industry, including stealing food to survive. She also added how she shot movies without making any profits from them.

She said this in an interview with The African List, recounting the hardships she faced in her earlier days. The ‘Omo Elemosho’ actress acknowledges that there is no job without challenges, and as such, people should be patient and not try to outrun their destiny, as they should wait for their time.

“Anyone who says they don’t face challenges in this job is lying. I suffered a lot in this job. My sufferings have turned to joy. We went to shoot a movie at a school, didn’t make any money, and came back empty-handed,” she said.

“We had a moment where we went to steal food to survive,” she noted, recalling a place in Oyo State where they sold Amala. “You pay in one place and collect soup elsewhere. The little money we had, we would manage to eat,” she said, as she advised fans to wait for their time, as it was worth it.
