The FCT Football Coaches Association has honoured former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi and Barrister Babatunde Akintade (Bucknor) for their significant roles in developing grassroots football in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria.
The awards were presented during the Association’s year-end ceremony, which highlighted the pair’s dedication to advancing the game. Alhaji Lulu urged local coaches to take up the challenge of improving football standards, emphasizing that coaches and players are the sport’s backbone.
Barrister Bucknor, a registered coach and member of the FCT Football Association Board, expressed his appreciation for the recognition, pledging continued support for football development at all levels. Bucknor’s team, Like Mind FC, recently emerged victorious in the 2024 Unity Preseason Tournament in the FCT.
In a related event, Barrister Akintade and Coach Samuel Abimbola joined dignitaries at the 2024 Femi Ajilore Football Clinic end-of-year program in Abuja.
Organized by Femi Ajilore, a former Super Eagles player, Olympic silver medalist, and FCT FA Board member, the event celebrated the achievements of young footballers while inspiring them for the future.
Ajilore expressed gratitude to attendees for their continued support, emphasizing the clinic’s impact on grassroots football in Nigeria.
“I deeply appreciate everyone’s dedication to this initiative. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in grassroots football development,” said the former Super Eagles star.
