Labour Party (LP), in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not to tamper with their victory in the February 25, 2023 presidential and the national assembly elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the chairman of the Labour Party in the FCT, Comrade Diugwu Peter Chukwuemeka said they have uncovered plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to thwart their victory.

“We are not surprised we won the elections in the FCT because we planned for it and the people of Nigeria wanted change. Change has come.

“The PDP and the APC are planning to upturn the election. It will not be acceptable. We will calm down and face the theory of our principal which is turning out communities from consumption to production,” Chukwuemeka said while thanking the residents of FCT for coming out to vote for their candidates.

“APC and PDP presidential candidates did not get the required 25 per cent votes. Our senatorial candidate also defeated a man who has been at the national assembly for about 20 years.

“She is a good woman and has been in good relationship with the party and the supporters. The people stood by us while there was nothing we had on ground. Our senatorial candidate won the election with a very wide margin and no one can upturn it,” the chairman said of their senator-elect, Ireti Kingibe.

He said they also won the election in Southern Abuja but were denied adding that they will go to court because the real figures of their winning was rigged.

“We are one excos. The chapter chairmen are one and it is a collective victoria. It is a victory for a new Nigeria, capacity and acceptability.

“We are asking INEC not to be funny, in trying to go behind and tamper with the results that have been announced in FCT. INEC should do the needful, keep the records of this election and we ask FCT INEC not to be funny. Not to go contrary to the results that have been announced.

“We are equally advising our candidates in other states to know that God will help them to win the elections.

“We are not in alliance with anybody. Vote from top to bottom. Our winning is not only at the national level. It should go down to the locality.

“If you are a candidate of another party, we are extending our hands of fellowship. And we are also encouraging you to try again next time,” Chukwuemeka said.

On whether their presidential candidate Peter Obi should accept the result of the last presidential election, Chukwuemeka said even heavens, earth and Nigerians know that Peter Obi won the election adding that it was the reason people are not celebrating the APC’s victory.

“The moment the truth is announced, people will be celebrating from now to December. I am begging the judiciary, the presidency to do the right thing so that Nigeria will be better for it,” Chukwuemeka added.
