Ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, has replaced his incumbent vice chairman, Hon. Nasir Umar, with Hon. Yusuf Mohammed Nadabo, as his new running mate.
Maikalangu, who announced Nadabo’s selection under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform yesterday, said the decision was based on Nadabo’s “impressive credentials” and capacity to contribute to the council’s development.
The announcement was made during a high-level APC meeting in Abuja, where Maikalangu described Nadabo as a jolly good fellow in whom he has placed his trust for his second-term bid.
The senior special assistant on Media and Public Affairs to the AMAC chairman, Kingsley Madaki, in a statement, highlighted Nadabo’s extensive political experience and grassroots appeal.
“Hon. Nadabo’s selection is strategic, given his decades of service in party politics, governance, and community leadership.
“With over 20 years in the APC, he has demonstrated loyalty, discipline, and a strong connection with the people—qualities that make him the ideal partner for this re-election bid,” he stated.
According to the statement, Nadabo, who hails from Karu Ward and holds the traditional title of Ciroman Pawan Karu, has held key party positions, including special assistant to the AMAC party chairman, personal assistant to the FCT APC chairman, and director-general of the APC National Integrity Movement (ANIM) in the FCT.
He stated that the Maikalangu-Nadabo ticket is being promoted as a symbol of continuity, loyalty, and administrative excellence, and that the party leaders believe the duo will strengthen the APC’s chances in the 2026 polls.
Reacting to the development, the AMAC APC chairman, Alhaji Muktar Abubakar, commended Maikalangu’s decision.
“Your leadership and vision for AMAC’s progress are truly inspiring. We are confident that this partnership will drive our party’s success in the 2026 elections,” he said.
