The Promoters of One Nigeria Ambassadors Club (PRONIG) has expressed their confidence in the leadership of Barr. Nwesom Wike as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

PRONIG particularly hailed Wike’s administrative competence and bold leadership style, emphasising that the FCT is now on the path to recovery after years of poor governance.

In a statement made available to journalists signed by Dr. Edache Adigwu, the group lamented the deterioration of the FCT in recent years, with a decline in infrastructure development, a lack of protection for the Master Plan, and the emergence of illegal structures and dirty settlements.

The group also highlighted poor sanitation, encroachments on grazing fields, and inadequate maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.

Wike, also known as “Mr. Projects,” was commended for his patriotic dedication and determination to address the challenges in the nation’s capital.

It said he has initiated key infrastructure projects, reviewed ongoing ones for efficiency, and made significant strides in removing illegal structures within the city center.

The release also noted a decrease in the movement of cattle across the city, indicating progress in curbing open grazing.

PRONIG in the statement also extended their congratulations to Wike for his outstanding efforts and urged him to continue on this path.

The statement reads in part: “The last eight years in particular have been very retrogressive. There were no serious developments in infrastructure; no conscious attempt to protect the Master Plan; no effort to remove illegal structures and halt the emergence of dirty settlements and markets; poor handling of sanitation; turning the city into grazing fields and poor maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.

“Therefore the coming of Wike, whose track record in administrative competence, bold and courageous leadership was a prayer answered by true patriots. His job has been well cut out for him, and he has been more than equal to the task.”

It added that Abuja is also generally wearing a better look with the removal of many illegal structures, particularly within the city centre.

It stated that with his engagement with herders, open grazing will end in the FCT.

“This will be a major achievement,” the statement added.
