Outgoing chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Dr. Charles Ugwuanyi, has charged members to remain united in order to achieve common goals.
The NMA chairman who spoke at a news conference in Abuja, emphasised the importance of unity among members while highlighting his administration’s efforts over the past two years.
He urged the incoming executive to resist any tendency that could lead to disunity, saying mutual respect and adherence to the association’s code of conduct and ethics were crucial.
Ugwuanyi noted that his administration had made significant achievements, particularly in maintaining the unity of the association in a cosmopolitan environment like Abuja.
He listed key accomplishments including welfare support for members, acquisition of land and raising public awareness about the association.
He acknowledged some unachieved goals but expressed confidence that the incoming executive would continue their efforts.
Ugwuanyi highlighted the NMA-FCT’s role in national politics, such as hosting the 2023 National Executive Council Meeting, and called for ongoing engagement with the federal government to improve doctors’ remuneration and working conditions.
He urged the incoming executive to build on the progress made and called for continued support from partners and sponsors.
