The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for City Centre Ward in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Loveth Izekor, has rejected the outcome of last Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election, alleging widespread irregularities in the collation process.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, Izekor described the February 21 poll as “deeply flawed,” insisting that results from several polling units where she claimed victory were altered during collation.

The PDP candidate declared that she would not accept the declared result, stressing that her legal team had commenced preparations to challenge the outcome at the election tribunal.

“We unequivocally declare that the election was rigged. We are not accepting this result. Our legal team is already preparing to file a petition, and we will pursue this matter to its logical conclusion,” she stated.

Izekor also used the opportunity to renew calls for electoral reforms, particularly the real-time electronic transmission of results, arguing that such measures would safeguard the integrity of the ballot and prevent manipulation during collation.

According to her, the experience in City Centre Ward highlights the need for urgent reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.

She commended her supporters for turning out to vote despite what she described as general voter apathy, assuring them that their efforts would not be in vain.
